New game! New owners! New news!
Posted
Hi gamers! We haven’t been sharing much lately, so here’s a big ol’ bag of news for you!
If you only want Feed the Forest news, scroll right to the end!
A mysterious discovery
We participated in Castle Game Jam in Latvia - an incredible game jam where you make games in a real castle.
We got sucked right into the jam spirit when we uncovered a strange artifact - an old floppy disk hidden in a dark corner of the castle. With a game on it: “Gnome Quest IV”!
We spent the week fixing it up and getting it running on modern hardware, and we are proud to present to you a long-lost installment in the infamous 90’s Gnome Quest franchise!
The floppy disk even had this trailer:
You can play the full game on itch here.
Let us know on Discord what you think of this classic!
Democratic Ownership
Another thing that has taken a lot of time, is a change in ownership! We are proud to announce that we are merging with Microsoft, becoming Microdoor Sunsoft!!
Nah, jk. We have indeed changed, but in a non-shitty way. Me, Edd and Andrés run the company as a worker-cooperative, but I was actually the sole owner. Now, we have formalized the democracy, so Edd and Andrés have become full co-owners with all the same rights as me. And if we’re ever growing the team, new team members will eventually also become worker-owners with equal ownership and voting rights.
If you’re just here for the games, this may not seem relevant, but here’s some reasons why it’s important for you as well:
- The creatives in this company have the control, and they will always have it. No new business director can overrule the democracy of the creators. So you’ll get better games.
- When everyone is a co-owner, everyone has the same goals, so there’s less conflict. So more time for making good games. **So you’ll get better games.
- Everyone is part of making policies and strategies for how we work. So happier game devs. Happier game devs make better games. So you’ll get better games.
- Your money when buying our games is 100% going to making better games, and as a bonus, you’re contributing to a movement for more equality and fairness. Not to some rich kid’s right-wing hyper-oppression think tank cryptofund. So you can sleep better at night.
It’s a cause for celebration! But we are also very ready to get back to spending all our time on making games - there’s been way too much legal talk in the Discord office recently.
Secret secret big thing
We prefer being public with our work, buuut sometimes it just needs some more time in the oven. When we are not working on feeding Feed the Forest, we are working on another veeeery cool nature-focused project that we think Feed the Forest players will also enjoy.
It still needs more time before we share news for real, but… this poster that Andrés made is just too cool to not get shared. Check it out:

Mind Diver news soon…
Mind Diver news soon… Hmmmm… Mysterious….
New mechanic for Feed the Forest
And I saved the best for last: a new mechanic that will be in the full version of Feed the Forest. We’re real excited about this one, lads. Together with the desert-painting we know and love, this will basically become the main engine for evolving your forest.
Here’s the mechanic in action. We call it Merging, a completely organic, almost pain-free way of splicing the genetic material of two or more organisms:
Merging
It’s very very satisfying to do this all over your forest… And the Forest guarantees absolutely no unwanted side effects that upset the balance of all of life!

That’s it! We’re actually going on a bit of summer vacation, so no news for a bit. But after that, I promise, we are going to be full on Feed the Forest until release. none of all this other mumbojumbo, just pure juice and forest.
save the world or get rich trying,
-Victor, Edd, and Andrés. (the Very Important Shareholders of Indoor Sunglasses and your forever loyal gamedevs)
